Global Design Project Color Challenge #361.
These are such fun colors! A great combo!
I recently watched a video from Jackie Bolhuis (Klompen Stampers.com) on the baby wipe technique and knew I had to give it a try! If you haven't tried this technique, you really should. It's so fun and just think of the variety of colors you can use for your backgrounds! And you don't just have to do diagonal lines, you can do swirls, circles, and the one I tried, which was curves! So cool!
Here's my card using the baby wipe technique for my background, and the colors for the Global Design Project challenge #361.
I used Shaded Spruce cardstock for my card base. The background was created using the baby wipes technique.
Here's what I did:
Fold a baby wipe in half and place on a protected surface (I used the largest Stampin' Up! clear block). Get out your re-inkers and squeeze drops out randomly using 3 or 4 colors (I used the three colors for the challenge).
Here's where it gets messy! My fingers are still sporting a light shade of Shaded Spruce! Haha
Fold the baby wipe again several times to where the ink shows through good. Then grab your cardstock and start dragging the inked baby wipe across in diagonal lines, or straight up and down. There's really lots of options, as I stated above.
Have fun! And don't stop with one piece of cardstock! There's lots of ink, and we don't want it to go to waste! Use it up and get creative with your backgrounds! You might come up with something super cool like I did!
I hope you will give this a try.
Have fun! :)
The flower image is from Stampin' Up! Wonderful World stamp set.
The leaf image was stamped on the front and back of the envelope.
The sentiment is from the Stampin' Up! Nuts About Squirrels stamp set. I stamped it on a scrap of the same background in Shaded Spruce and adhered with dimensionals.
The ribbon is White Crinkled Ribbon which was colored using the Dark Shaded Spruce Stampin' Blends markers.
The flower was stamped with Flirty Flamingo ink onto Basic White cardstock and fussy cut. Dimensionals were used on the flower and Liquid Adhesive on the stem.
The embellishments are Rhinestones Basic Jewels, colored with Dark Flirty Flamingo Stampin' Blends.
The rectangle cardstock is Parakeet Party. Using a Blending Brush and Parakeet Party ink, blended around the edges. The background was also blended around the edges using Shaded Spruce ink.
Inside my card is another piece of the same technique with Basic White cardstock. The edges were also blended and the leaf image stamped several times using Shaded Spruce ink.
Thanks so much for stopping by today.
Let me know if you have ever tried this technique... or if you are going to give it a try!
