I decided on Basic White cardstock as my card base because I wanted the beautiful vellum background to stand out.
The DSP is Stampin' Up! Subtles 6x6 collection. I also used it on the envelope flap.
The sentiment was stamped with Memento ink and adhered with dimensionals. Linen Thread was wrapped around the stem of the flowers and tied in a bow. Iridescent Pearls embellishments complete my card.
To create my background, which is really easy and fun, I got out my Stampin' Blends markers, Vellum and 99% Isopropyl Alcohol. For my background, I used Shaded Spruce, Parakeet Party & Night of Navy Stampin' Blends.
Protect your surface and add the Vellum on top and begin coloring the Vellum with your Stampin' Blends markers. I didn't leave much space between colors as I wanted it to blend well, and filled up the Vellum (I do make sure the markers don't overlap too much, because it leaves the other color on your marker... and I didn't want to do that). This technique is so versatile... any combination of markers will work and it will be a different pattern each time.
Once your Vellum is colored, get out a small paint brush and your Isopropyl Alcohol. I like to start with large drops first and watch as the colors all move around. So cool! Next I use my heat tool to dry it. Then I tap my brush on my finger so smaller drops fall onto the Vellum. This creates such a cool image! I heat it again to dry and see what I have.
If I don't quite like it, I play around with drops and splatters again, until I get the desired image.
And, that's it! While you have all your supplies out, make several or even more of these Vellum backgrounds for your future projects! I made several backgrounds, experimenting with different colors and used a sticky note to write down the colors I used and adhered on the back of the Vellum, so when I grab one, I know which combination of Stampin' Blends I used.
The images from the Stampin' Up! Honeybee Home bundle were inked with Memento and colored using Daffodil Delight, Basic Black, Smoky Slate & Old Olive. The bee was adhered with dimensionals and the flowers were adhered with liquid adhesive on the bottom portion and mini dimensionals on the top portion.
Inside my card is Basic White cardstock with the flower stamped using Memento ink.
Thanks so much for stopping by today and I hope you enjoyed my card.
