A Stamp Above Creative Group Sketch Challenge for February.
I had a little fun with this sketch and originally was only going to use one technique for this card, but ended up using THREE techniques. Why not, right?
I used the Stampin' Up! Country Bouquet stamp set along with Basic Borders Dies to create my Valentine's Day card.
For my card base I used Sweet Sorbet cardstock.
Using the Basic Border Dies, I die cut two strips and on the back adhered them together.
I cut a strip of Mint Macaron cardstock to adhere onto the borders.
The embellishments are Pastel Sequins. Love these sequins (no holes in the centers of them)!
This technique is a simple one... by inking your embossing folder.
That's right, press your ink pad onto your embossing folder. Put your cardstock onto the inked portion and close your embossing folder and run through your Stampin' Cut N Emboss machine.
Easy peasy, right?
And your embossing cleans super easy by just running it under water and wiping dry.
I used this technique with the Brick & Mortar 3D Embossing Folder and Petal Pink cardstock. The ink I used is Sweet Sorbet.
I added a strip of Sweet Sorbet cardstock behind the embossed cardstock.
This background technique is the Plastic Wrap Technique.
Get pieces of plastic wrap and scrunch it up, dab it onto your ink pad and dab it onto your cardstock.
For my background, I used Sweet Sorbet, Mint Macaron and Petal Pink inks.
Use a different piece of plastic wrap for each color... or just unwrap your plastic and bunch back up on the other side and use again!
To step up this technique, I really wanted a little shimmer and sparkle on the background, but I didn't want to use Wink of Stella.
So, I got out my Shimmer White Embossing Paste and dabbed it onto a piece of paper towel and dabbed it onto the cardstock. This was the touch of sparkle I was looking for.
I wish you could see it in my photos. It really is pretty.
The next technique is using a stencil and Shimmer White Embossing Paste.
I created the stencil with the Country Bouquet Punch, using the negative space.
Next, I added a little of the Paste onto my Silicone Mat and added a drop of Sweet Sorbet re-inker.
It was mixed with my Palette Knife and added onto the stencil.
You can add a thin layer of the paste or add a little more for some dimension like I did.
Let it dry. Once it dried (or semi-dried... because I'm too impatient), I fussy cut around the heart.
I took this photo in the sunlight outside to try and get some of the shimmer from the heart.
Linen Thread was looped a few times and adhered behind the heart before adhering with dimensionals.
The tiny heart was die cut using the Country Bouquet Punch from DSP.
Tried again to get the sparkle to show on the background, but no luck!
The sentiment was stamped using Sweet Sorbet ink and adhered with dimensionals.
I also did the Plastic Wrap Technique on the envelope flap as well. Super cool on an envelope!
Inside my card is another layer of the Plastic Wrap Technique with a layer of Basic White cardstock. The sentiment was stamped with Sweet Sorbet ink and the two tiny hearts were punched from DSP.
Finally, I did end up using my Wink of Stella and the cap to flick tiny sparkly dots onto the whole card. Not a lot, just a little splatter was all it needed.
Thanks so much for stopping by today and I hope you enjoyed my card full of fun techniques!
Give these techniques a try!
