Color Throwdown Challenge #728.
It's a VERY SPECIAL time to check out the Color Throwdown Challenge because I am the GUEST STAR STAMPER!
I am so excited and honored to be chosen for the Guest Stamper!
For my card I used the Stampin' Up! Beautifully Happy stamp set and a NEW (to me) technique called Tissue Paper Watercolor Technique.
The Stampin' Up! Colors I used for this challenge are Sweet Sorbet, Crumb Cake, Blushing Bride & Granny Apple Green.
I chose Blushing Bride cardstock for my card base.
The two cardstock strips behind the image were embossed using the Pretty Flowers Embossing Folder.
The sentiment was stamped onto Blushing Bride cardstock using Sweet Sorbet ink, flagged on each end and adhered with one dimensional on the left and liquid adhesive where it overlaps onto the image.
The ribbon is White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon which was colored using Dark Sweet Sorbet Stampin' Blends marker. I wrapped it around the white cardstock and tied in a bow.
The beautiful flower image was stamped using Memento ink and using the two-stamp method with this stamp set, stamped the images using Granny Apple Green, Sweet Sorbet and Blushing Bride inks.
The dotted stamp was inked with Blushing Bride ink randomly around the image.
The strip of cardstock behind the image is Granny Apple Green, which was adhered behind the image with liquid adhesive with dimensionals added to adhere onto the card front.
Adhesive-Backed Milky Dots embellishments were the final touches on my card. I colored them with Dark Sweet Sorbet Stampin' Blends marker.
Wink of Stella was added onto each flower for a little sparkle. I wish the photo would show the beautiful shimmer it adds.
How to create the Tissue Paper Watercolor Technique:
1. Start off by crinkling/scrunching/rolling in a ball, white tissue paper larger than the size cardstock you want to use. Open it up gently, but don't flatten it all out.
2. Add liquid adhesive onto your Basic White cardstock. I squirted liquid adhesive onto my silicone mat and with a sponge, dabbed it onto the cardstock to cover it completely. Be sure to get around all the edges.
* Another option is to use a glue stick to adhere your tissue paper onto the cardstock.
3. Add the tissue paper onto the cardstock and press it down, leaving crinkles and gentle folds. There should be an overlap. Trim, leaving about 1/2 inch around each side. Flip the cardstock over, add a liquid adhesive and fold the tissue paper around the back to adhere.
4. This needs to dry completely before continuing on to the next step. Use your heat tool to dry.
5. Pour re-inkers (about 4-5 drops) of your color choice into small containers and add some water to each. I used the four colors required for this challenge. You may want to add more drops if your ink color is very light and less if your ink color is very dark.
6. Using your water painter, swish it around to mix your first color and add onto the dried tissue paper by gently touching the tissue paper. The trick is to let the ink spread around on it's own. Super cool to watch!
7. Rinse your water painter in water and wipe on a cloth before using the next color. If the colors are too light or you need more color, simply go over it again.
8. Continue with each color until you have created the background you desire. You can add color randomly, as I have, or create your own unique background.
9. Have fun!
I love how the colors bleed into each other and create such a fun background.
Inside my card is Basic White cardstock with the sentiment stamped using Sweet Sorbet ink. The flower image was stamped using Blushing Bride ink with dotted images stamped with Blushing Bride and Granny Apple Green inks.
For the envelope flap I stamped the smaller flower image all along the flap.
Thanks so much for stopping by today and I hope you will give this technique a try!
