Enjoy Your Day Mirror Image Technique

Today's card was created as a member of the Design Team at...

Try a Sketch on Tuesday Challenge #639.

For my "Enjoy Your Day" card, I used Stampin' Up! Thoughtful Expressions Bundle, Flight & Airy DSP, Softly Sophisticated 3D Embossing Folder and a technique called Mirror Stamping/Image.

I began with the card base using Boho Blue cardstock.  The beautiful papers are from Flight & Airy DSP.

In the Thoughtful Expressions Stamp Set, the hummingbird is facing the other direction, which just didn't work with my card design.  So, I tried the Mirror Image technique and it was SO FUN!

This is a very easy technique.  To begin, you will need a Silicone Craft Sheet.  Simply stamp the image using Memento ink onto the Silicone Mat.  Place your cardstock onto stamped image and press firmly, making sure not to move the cardstock.
Gently lift up the cardstock and you have your "Mirror" image.

If you need to die cut your image, with determination, this is what I came up with.  I lifted the cardstock up to my desk craft light which gave me the ability to place my die in the correct position and held in place with temporary tape or post it note.  Now, you can die cut your image.  This can be a little tricky, but still doable.  After all, I managed to do it!
The other option is to simply fussy cut your image, and that works too!

Finally, Wink of Stella was brushed over the entire hummingbird image for a little sparkle & shine.

Three strips of DSP were adhered onto Boho Blue cardstock and adhered onto the DSP.  I did emboss the center panel using Softly Sophisticated 3D Embossing Folder.

The sentiment was stamped with Pecan Pie ink, flagged on the right and adhered onto the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

The hummingbird was colored using Boho Blue, Daffodil Delight, Flirty Flamingo and Pecan Pie Stampin' Blends Markers, by lightly brushing the colors on in lines, continuing until the colors were blended as I liked.  I think it's a fun way to add color to an image if you want to use several Blends.

A piece of 2023-2025 In Color Jute Trim was pulled apart and one strand used to loop into a bow and adhere behind the sentiment.

Finally, the card was embellished using 2023-2024 In Color Dots.

Inside my card is DSP layered with Basic White.  The image was stamped in the lower corner with Memento ink.

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog.

  1. Very pretty card, Polly! I have used the mirroring technique a few times as well. When I learned this technique, a piece of slippery acetate was used rather than the silicone mat. I will be sure to use the mat next time. - Melanie R.
