Stampin' Up! Desert Details Card

A Stamp Above Creative Group March Mystery Stamping Challenge.

This site is a private group for members of Kelly Acheson's Stampin' Up! Team.

There are fun challenges each month that really jump-starts your creativity!

I look forward to these challenges.  Sometimes they get me think outside the box... or to use those Stampin' Up! stamp sets/bundles that I haven't even used yet.  Yes, I do have a couple of stamp sets that I purchased with good intentions and when I receive them, I go totally blank with ideas on how to use them!

This card was made for the March Mystery Stamping Challenge.

I used the Stampin' Up! Desert Details bundle, Delicate Desert DSP and Vellum Basics Specialty Paper to create my card.

The beauty of Mystery Stamping is that you have no idea how this card will come together.  As you keep going, you start to figure out some of it and you can add layers here and there and just get creative!

I began with my card base using Calypso Coral cardstock.  From this photo, it looks like the card will open up like a landscape card... but it doesn't.

I decided to add an additional layer by using Basic White, then the DSP, which I thought really made this card front pop.

The basic card base is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.

The Vellum Basics Specialty Paper was cut 4 x 9 3/4 and scored (very gently) at 3 1/4 & 6 1/2.  I folded it a mountain, valley fold.

The Calypso Coral cardstock for the front is cut 2 1/4 x 3 1/4.  I also decided on an additional layer here as well and added Pale Papaya cardstock followed by Basic White measuring 1 3/4 x 2 3/4.

The Basic White was stamped with an image from the stamp set, along the bottom using Pale Papaya ink.  Next, I stamped the flowers using Calypso Coral ink and die cut using Desert Details Dies.  The leaf was die cut using Soft Succulent cardstock.

Adhere the leaves and flowers with liquid adhesive.  The sentiment was stamped using Gray Granite ink and adhered with dimensionals.

Linen Thread was tied in a double bow and adhered with a Mini Glue Dot.

The embellishments are Iridescent Pastel Gems.

Inside the card are the small layers.  The Calypso Coral cardstock measures 2 1/4 x 3 1/4 and the Basic White cut at 1 3/4 x 2 3/4.

The same image was stamped along the bottom and a partial image of the flower stamped in the upper corner.

I started by adhering the inside sentiment piece to the Vellum using an adhesive of your choice (I used Stampin' Seal+).  Then I was able to flip over the Vellum and add adhesive only where the cardstock  was adhered, so that no adhesive shows through to the front.

And there you have it.  Mystery solved with a very cute fun fold card!
