I must admit, I'm not very good at watercoloring, but when I saw this technique, I had to give it a try! I first saw this technique at the Creativate Summer 2024 Retreat demonstrated by Jackie Bolhuis, which was held July 26 & 27, 2024.
By the way, the next Creativate Retreat will be held Oct 25 & 26, 2024. You won't want to miss it!
What I most loved about this technique is that you can just spread the color over the embossed lines and it still looks amazing!
If you don't have much patience, such as myself, then it may be difficult to WAIT for this to dry! Thus the smudges on my card! Oh well. I was just so happy to try this technique and have it actually look good, that I didn't really care about the smudges! So all those smudges were made lovingly in my haste to create this fun card!
For my "Hello" card, I used Stampin' Up! Poised Peony Stamp Set, Unbounded Love Dies & Eyelet 3D Embossing Folder, along with Watercolor Paper, Water Painters and Embossing Powder.
There are lots of layers on my card, which I love!
I began with a Basic White card base, then Pretty in Pink and Basic White again, which was embossed with the Eyelet 3D Embossing Folder.
Then another layer of Pretty in Pink, with the final focal point layer using Watercolor Paper. This was adhered onto the Pretty in Pink layer with Foam Adhesive Sheets.
The sentiment was stamped with Pretty in Pink ink and die cut using Unbounded Love Dies. I adhered this with Stampin' Dimensionals.
Linen Thread was wrapped around the two layers twice and tied in a bow.
Iridescent Faceted Gems are the finished sparkly touches on my card.
I started by stamping the image with Versamark and heat setting using White Embossing Powder.
And the fun part, choose your colors and grab a Water Painter and start painting! I used Pretty in Pink and Old Olive inks. Going outside the embossed lines was actually pretty fun. At first I thought, oh my, what a mess this looks like, but as it starts to dry, it looks so amazing!
Beware... it takes up to DAYS for this to dry completely.
Inside my card is a Basic White layer with a 3/4" Pretty in Pink embossed strip along the bottom.
Pretty in Pink was embossed and adhered on the envelope flap and trimmed.
