Libby's Craft Studio: Floating Strips Birthday Card

Color Throwdown Challenge #743.

The Stampin' Up! colors I used that matched as closely as I could to the colors above were Bubble Bath, Lemon Lime Twist & Basic White.

I used the Stampin' Up! Zany Zoo Bundle along with Bright & Beautiful DSP & Zoo Crew DSP to create my fun "Birthday" card.

In the photos, the DSP strips look more like they have a purple hue to it, but it is the Bubble Bath color. It's a bit more pink in real life.

Basic White Cardstock was used for my card base. The next layer was a Window Sheet with DSP strips adhered onto it.

The alligator was stamped using Memento ink and colored with Lemon Lime Twist & Bubble Bath Stampin' Blends Markers. There are dies for this image, but I fussy cut it.

Linen Thread was used to tie a small bow which I attached to the basket on the bicycle with a Mini Glue Dot.

Next, onto the Basic White cardstock square, I colored the bottom with Lemon Lime Twist Stampin' Blends to make it look somewhat like grass. Tiny flowers were die cut using the Zany Zoo Dies and adhered along the bottom.

Two pink Loose Frosted Dots embellishments were added in the center of each wheel.

The alligator was adhered with dimensionals.

The sentiment was stamped using Lemon Lime Twist.

To create the "floating strips" I cut strips of DSP measuring 3/4" from the Bright & Beautiful DSP and adhered them onto a 4 x 5 1/4 piece of Window Sheet. Once I had all the strips adhered, I added Foam Strips to the back of each strip and adhered onto the card front, giving the illusion that the paper strips are "floating."

For my envelope flap, I adhered additional strips of DSP, leaving some white space between them, and trimmed off the excess.

Inside my card is two strips of DSP along the right. The sentiment was stamped using Lemon Lime Twist and the birthday confetti stamped using Bubble Bath ink.

Three teeny tiny flowers were die cut from the DSP and adhered in the lower corner. When I say teeny tiny, they really were! Glad I had my Take Your Pick tool to help me out! I picked up the flower with my Take Your Pick tool and added a dab of liquid adhesive on the back the pressed it gently onto the cardstock. I did use my fingernail to make sure it would stay when I wanted.
